Homeland Security Program
The Associate of Science Degree and Certificate in Homeland Security is designed to prepare students to meet the needs of entry level positions in the Homeland Security career fields. The curriculum will prepare students with a foundation of the Homeland Security Enterprise and provide them with the knowledge to enter varied career fields that plan for and respond to the security of people, places and programs. The skills developed during class will enhance the student’s ability by completing industry-recognized third-party Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certification courses as part of each class in the core program. The Homeland Security Degree program is designed for First Responders, government officials, emergency managers as well as the citizen interested in personal and community safety and security.
A Degree or Certificate in Homeland Security can serve as the foundational educational achievement to further study in homeland security at the bachelor or masters level of education. For officers and civilians already serving in public safety careers, a certificate or degree can enhance your skill set with embedded FEMA Independent Study courses required for each homeland security class.
The program can also serve as a basis for re-skilling people looking for new career opportunities.
The Homeland Security program also provides important knowledge to those concerned with safeguarding themselves, their homes, their families and the nation. According to the National Strategy for Homeland Security, it is everyone’s responsibility to do their part to keep our homes and communities safe.
