English as a Second Language

Business Divison Header

The noncredit ESL courses focuses on preparing students to use English to achieve tasks within a variety of real-life situations and experiences. Students are provided with skills to be able to listen, speak, read, and write in English. The instructors are experienced in providing high-quality instruction in an interactive classroom environment. The ESL classes are organized from beginning to advance with opportunities to earn a Certificate of Competency in areas of Foundational English, Intermediate English and Advanced English. These certificates mark successful progress in the ESL sequence. Classes are offered in multiple locations and flexible times throughout the communities the college serves.

The emphasis of the program is to:

  • Provide communication skills necessary for daily living situations
  • Prepare students to transfer to college
  • Encourage students to continue pursuing lifelong learning, training, and career advancement

Inglés como Segundo Idioma (ESL)

Las clases de inglés sin crédito preparan a los estudiantes para sobresalir en situaciones y experiencias cotidianas. Los alumnos reciben enseñanza en como escuchar, hablar, leer y escribir en inglés. Los profesores cuentan con bastante experiencia en la enseñanza de idioma en una atmosfera interactiva. Las clases de ESL son organizadas en 6 niveles que comienzan desde principiante hasta avanzado. De tal manera que los participantes tienen la oportunidad de obtener certificados de competencia a nivel básico, intermedio y avanzado. Estos certificados marcan el avance progresivo en la secuencia de ESL. Las clases se ofrecen en múltiples localidades y horarios flexibles.

El énfasis del programa es:

  • Proveer habilidades necesarias para comunicarse en situaciones de la vida cotidiana
  • Preparar estudiantes para transferirse a clases de crédito en el Colegio de Rio Hondo
  • Alentar estudiantes para continuar con su aprendizaje a término largo, así como seguir sus metas académicas y profesionales
