(WHITTIER, Calif.) – Río Hondo College will welcome students, families and community members to campus for the Annual 56th Assembly District College & Career Fair, held in partnership with Assemblymember Lisa Calderon and the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley and Eastside.
The event is free and will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, on the Río Hondo College campus, 3600 Workman Mill Road in Whittier. More than 60 college and career representatives will be on hand to provide information, guidance and resources to help attendees explore educational and workforce opportunities.
Workshops will also be offered for students and parents, covering topics such as college applications, financial aid, certificate and trade programs, and other pathways to higher education and job readiness.
“Hosting the Annual College & Career Fair at Río Hondo College provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome our local community to campus and showcase the many programs and services we offer to help students reach their goals,” said Superintendent/President Teresa Dreyfuss. “Events like this reflect our mission of expanding access and helping every student find their path to success.”
Through this collaboration, Río Hondo College and its partners are expanding educational access and workforce opportunities for students and families across the region.
“Working alongside Assemblymember Calderon and local organizations allows us to elevate opportunities for students and families throughout our district,” said Board of Trustees President Oscar Valladares. “Together we’re building stronger pathways to college, career training and lifelong learning.”
The Annual College & Career Fair serves as a vital resource for residents of the 56th Assembly District, providing free access to representatives from universities, community colleges and technical programs.
Assemblymember Lisa Calderon was elected in November 2020 to represent California’s 56th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Diamond Bar, Industry, La Habra Heights, La Puente, Pico Rivera, South El Monte, Walnut, Whittier, a portion of El Monte, and the unincorporated communities of Avocado Heights, Bassett, East Whittier, Los Nietos-West Whittier, Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights.
