(Whittier, Calif.) — The College invites students, families and community members to attend its annual STEAM Festival on Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main campus located at 3600 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601. This free, family-friendly event will transform the campus into an interactive hub of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) exploration.

Designed to inspire learners of all ages, the STEAM Festival will feature hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations and interactive booths hosted by academic departments, student clubs and community partners. Activities are specially designed for children ages 5 and older, making the event both accessible and engaging for young learners and their families. Attendees can participate in live science experiments, robotics showcases, creative arts activities and technology demonstrations that highlight educational pathways and career opportunities in high-demand fields.

The festival provides a unique opportunity for families to experience the College’s dynamic learning environment while connecting with faculty, staff and current students. Younger attendees will be encouraged to explore their curiosity, ask questions and imagine their future in STEAM-related careers.

“By creating hands-on, engaging experiences, we’re helping young learners see themselves as future scientists, engineers, artists and innovators,” said Superintendent/President Teresa Dreyfuss. “We are proud to welcome the community to campus for this exciting day of discovery.”

Río Hondo College (RHC) Board of Trustees President Rosaelva Lomeli highlighted the College’s strong academic programs that support student success and help fuel the local economy.

“At Río Hondo College, we offer outstanding programs in high-growth fields, such as Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Engineering and much more,” Lomeli said. “The STEAM Festival showcases the exciting learning happening on campus and reflects our commitment to preparing students for careers that strengthen our community.”

Admission and parking are free. Community members are encouraged to bring their families and spend the afternoon exploring interactive exhibits, meeting College representatives and celebrating the power of creativity and innovation.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the Río Hondo College Foundation and the College’s valued partners, including the BCM Foundation and the Rotary Club of Whittier.

For more information about the STEAM Festival, please email the event director, Dr. Garima Garg, at [email protected].
