Río Hondo College Hosts Annual Free Community STEAM Festival

(Whittier, Calif.) – Río Hondo College (RHC) invites community members of all ages to its annual FREE Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The event will take place at the College’s main campus, located at 3600 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601. Parking is free.
The STEAM Festival will feature a variety of exciting, hands-on science activities and games designed for elementary, middle and high school students. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with interactive exhibits led by Río Hondo College students, faculty and community partners. Free giveaways will also be available while supplies last.
“We are thrilled to open our campus to the community for a day of discovery and fun,” said RHC Superintendent/President Dr. Marilyn Flores. “This festival not only showcases the incredible talents of our students and faculty but also inspires young minds to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.”
Río Hondo Community College Board of Trustees President Oscar Valladares emphasized the importance of building strong educational programs to prepare students for careers in STEAM. “We are proud of our STEAM programs, we are equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the ever-evolving workforce,” said Valladares. “This festival is a wonderful opportunity to spark interest and curiosity in these critical fields.”
