Río Hondo Community College District Announces Finalists for Superintendent/President Position

(Whittier, Calif.) — The Río Hondo Community College District Board of Trustees has announced three finalists for the Superintendent/President position and invites the College community and public to participate in upcoming open forums scheduled April 7–8, 2026, at Río Hondo College.

The Río Hondo Community College District Superintendent/President finalists are
(in alphabetical order):

Jeffrey Archibald, Ed.D., is the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Workforce Development of West Los Angeles College, CA. Previously, Dr. Archibald served as the Dean of Social Sciences of Pasadena City College, CA. Dr. Archibald earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Drexel University; a Master of Science in Communications from  Illinois State University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University.

Don Moya-Miller, Ph.D., is the Vice President/Assistant Superintendent, Academic Affairs of Río Hondo Community College District, CA. Previously, Dr. Moya-Miller served as the Vice President of Instruction of the College of Alameda, CA. Dr. Moya-Miller earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Spanish from the University of Virginia; and a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Brigham Young University.

Laura Ramirez, Ed.D., is the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction of Pasadena Area Community College District, CA. Previously, Dr. Ramirez served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs of Río HondoCommunity College District, CA. Dr. Ramirez earned a Doctor of Education in Community College Leadership from California State University, Fullerton; a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from California State University, Fullerton; a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles; and an Associate of Science in Math from East Los Angeles College.

Each candidate will participate in a one-hour forum where there will be a candidate introduction followed by a question-and-answer session.

The Board of Trustees invites and encourages everyone to participate in the open forums. Forums will be made accessible to all and will be conducted in person at Río Hondo College, located at 3600 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601, L Tower, 5th Floor, Board Room (503 A & B). A livestream will also be available for those who cannot attend in person at https://www.riohondo.edu/presidential-search/forums/. Those interested in submitting candidate forum questions for consideration may email Presidential Search Liaison Reneé Gallegos at [email protected] by 12 p.m. on April 7, 2026. Please indicate which candidate the question is directed to.

*All attendees will be asked to complete a feedback form, and the completed forms will be provided to the Board of Trustees for their review.

Dear Río Hondo College Community,

We are pleased to report that the water main break has been repaired and water service has been fully restored to our main campus.  All in-person classes and on-campus activities will resume as scheduled effective Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 6:00 a.m.  We appreciate the Rio team and our partners at the San Gabriel Valley Water Co. for their tremendous work.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Please address any questions to Campus Police at 562-908-3490.
