Welcome to the Division of Kinesiology and Athletics
The Division of Kinesiology and Athletics provides an educational pathway to multiple careers in sports, education, and healthcare while promoting lifelong fitness and empowering students to make healthy decisions. We offer two Associate’s degrees – AA-T in Kinesiology and AS in Sports Medicine – along with 13 certificates, varying from Fitness Specialist to Coaching to Community Health Worker. If you have an interest in promoting health and wellness, we have a pathway for you!

The Fitness Specialist Certificate Program at Río Hondo College prepares students to excel as fitness professionals in the booming health and wellness industry. Combining theory and hands-on practice, students develop skills to create personalized fitness programs, lead group classes and serve as role models of fitness and health. Our program is taught in Río Hondo’s state-of-the-art facilities by faculty with advanced degrees and certifications in the field.
