Get ready for an unforgettable evening of live music, culture and community as Río Hondo College welcomes Grammy Award-winning Latin jazz artist Poncho Sánchez to campus on Thursday, June 11, 2026, for a free outdoor concert in the Lower Quad.
Known worldwide for his electrifying blend of Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms and soulful percussion, Poncho Sánchez has spent more than three decades captivating audiences with high-energy performances and vibrant musical storytelling. A celebrated conguero, bandleader and salsa singer, Sánchez earned a Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album for Latin Soul and has performed alongside legendary artists including Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaría and Tower of Power.
Presented by the Division of Arts and Cultural Programs in partnership with the Río Hondo College Foundation, the concert is part of the college’s Community Event Nights series, designed to bring students, employees, families and local residents together through music, arts and entertainment.
The event is free and open to the community. Guests are encouraged to bring family and friends and enjoy an evening filled with live Latin jazz under the summer sky. Free parking will be available in Lots B and C.
