Río Hondo College to Host Virtual Public Forums on Superintendent/President Search

Posted on August 29, 2025 by Río Hondo College | Category: College News,Homepage News

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | RELEASE DATE: August 29, 2025 | CONTACT: Dalilah Davaloz (562) 692-0921

(Whittier, Calif.) — The Río Hondo College Board of Trustees, in partnership with the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), is advancing the process to select the College’s next Superintendent/President. As part of a comprehensive and inclusive search, a diverse Presidential Search Committee has been formed with representatives from across the College and broader community.

The next step in this process is to gather input from both internal and external stakeholders to help shape the Presidential Profile, which will serve as a key recruitment tool in the search. To that end, Río Hondo College will host three Virtual Public Forums on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., and 4 p.m., and we invite all to participate virtually at https://gorio.page/presidential-forums. In addition, individuals may share their input by completing a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZNYP3JZ, which will remain open through noon on Friday, September 5.

“Having had the privilege of leading Río Hondo College before, I know firsthand the importance of inclusive dialogue in shaping our future. I encourage all voices to join us in these forums to ensure our next Superintendent/President reflects the values and aspirations of our community,” said Teresa Dreyfuss, superintendent/president.

Board President Oscar Valladares shared that “The Board is looking forward to an inclusive process from all of our constituents as we seek to identify the next Superintendent/President who has the vision to continue the work of empowering our community through championing student success at Río Hondo College.”

Each one-hour session will provide an opportunity for participants to share their perspectives on the qualities and characteristics the next Superintendent/President should embody. Feedback collected through the forums will play a vital role in shaping the Presidential Profile and ensuring the process reflects the values and aspirations of the College community.

All input gathered during the forums, as well as survey responses, will be submitted directly to ACCT to ensure a thoughtful, inclusive and equitable process that reflects the College’s mission to serve its diverse student body and communities.

Additional details about the search process, including the composition of the Presidential Search Committee and timeline, are available at https://www.riohondo.edu/presidential-search/.

Sincerely,
Information Technology Services Río Hondo College
