Common Course Numbering (CCN) System

Talk to a Counselor

Posted on April 9, 2026 by Río Hondo College | Category: College News,Homepage News

Did you know that as of Fall 2025, course numbers at California Community Colleges—including Río Hondo—now follow a unified statewide system? It’s all part of a new initiative called Common Course Numbering (CCN).

This system, required by state law (Assembly Bill 1111), was created to make transferring between colleges easier than ever. Instead of wondering whether “Math 130” at one college is equivalent to “Math 110” at another, all comparable classes across the state now share the same course number and title. The result? A simpler, clearer experience for students.

What’s changed?

Beginning in Fall 2025, many Río Hondo courses received updated numbers and names.
For example, “Math 130” is now listed as STAT C1000. Even though the label changed, the course content and units remain the same.

How does this help students?

If you plan to take classes at another community college or transfer to a university, CCN ensures consistency. You’ll know exactly which course to register for, making it easier to:

  • Stay on track for graduation
  • Build a clearer academic plan
  • Understand how courses transfer

Already took the class?

No worries—your past coursework still counts. Any classes you completed before the renumbering remain valid toward your degree and transfer requirements.

Developed an Educational Plan prior to CCN changes?

Make sure you schedule an appointment to meet with a Counselor and update your educational plan to reflect the CCN changes.

CCN Changes

The classes below represent Phase I (Fall 2025) and Phase II (Fall 2026) of CCN. Additional courses will transition to the new numbering system in Fall 2027.

Use this guide to help you with the registration process and ensure you are registering for the appropriate classes.

Notice of Public Hearings

Dear Río Hondo College Community,

We understand the disruption this may cause to our campus community and appreciate your patience and understanding. Additional updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

Sincerely,
Information Technology Services Río Hondo College
