WORKS IN PROGRESS: REPERTORY DANCE CONCERT
The dance concert showcases established choreographer’s repertory and works inspired by famous choreographers, such as Isadora Duncan, Jose Limon, Jack Moore, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Marius Petipa, and Helen Tamaris. Contributions by faculty members Alyson Cartagena, Lisa Jay, Kristina Urteaga, Rachel Lopez, Paige Melvin, and Carol McDowell, as well as student works, will be included. Under the direction of Dr. Alyson Cartagena, the evening includes an eclectic mix of dance genres. A $10 donation is suggested at the door.

THE NUTCRACKER: A contemporary version for children of all ages. Created especially for children, The Nutcracker is a contemporary version of the beloved holiday classic. Guest performers include Montebello High School, Esteban E. Torres High School, Shively Middle School, Hadley School, and RHC Child Development Center students. Proceeds benefit RHC Dance Collective and their participation in the 2017 American College Dance Association. Ticket prices are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Children five and under are free. Dance Audition for Evening of Dance Ensemble Concert
PE 141 (dance room in KDA complex)
The Rio Hondo College Dance Program is looking for hardworking and dedicated dancers to be part of the Spring 2017 dance concert. Dancers of all levels needed for ensemble works including Ballet, Contemporary/Modern, Hip-hop as well as other dance styles.
- Dancers do not need any experience but must enroll in Dance Repertory (DANC 182) and Performance (DANC 180). This should be completed prior to the Feb. 1 audition.
- Please arrive in the dance room (PE 141) for personal warm-up with your completed audition form.
- The choreographers provide across-the-floor and center work as well as dance combinations and improvisation. No prepared material needed.
- Contemporary, jazz, ballet, and hip-hop material will be taught. Please wear dance clothes and bring socks and/or dance shoes (jazz shoes or dance half soles/thongs).
The Alumni Dance Concert provides RHC graduates an opportunity to showcase their choreography and performance skills. Proceeds benefit RHC Dance Collective and their participation in the 2017 American College Dance Association. Ticket prices are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. AN EVENING OF ENSEMBLE DANCE
Under the direction of Dr. Alyson Cartagena, the Dance Program presents an evening of dance works based on the concept of repertory and inspired by noteworthy choreographers such as Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and Jose Limon. Choreography includes hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, and contemporary ballet. A $10 donation is suggested at the door.
