Troy is available to help students with career, major, and life planning questions, creating educational plans, interpreting career assessments, reviewing resumes and cover letters, mock interview practice, and more.
Belen Torres-Gil (Professor, Career Counselor, Career Center Coordinator)
Belen has an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a graduate level certificate in Career Counseling from California State University, Long Beach. She has been an educational and career counselor for too many years to count. Belen is available to help students with career, major, and life planning questions, creating educational plans, interpreting career assessments, reviewing resumes and cover letters, and mock interview practice, and more.
Angelica Martinez (Career Counselor)
Angelica has her M.S. in Educational Counseling from the University of La Verne. She has been a career and academic counselor for over 6 years and is currently focusing on counseling Rio Hondo College’s Adult Re-entry student population. Angelica is available to help students with educational plans, academic advising, career and major exploration, resume writing, job search strategies and much more.
Liz Chavez (Career Development Specialist)
Liz has an A.A. in Business Administration from Rio Hondo College. She has been a Career Development Specialist for 13 years. Liz assists students with career exploration/research, job and internship search, career related workshops, and classroom orientations.
Elizabeth Ramirez (Student Services Assistant)
Elizabeth has an M.S. in Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of La Verne. She has been in higher education for eight years. Elizabeth provides outreach and services to improve the retention and success of adult re-entry students.
Lauren Maki (Career Center Intern)
Lauren is currently pursuing an M.S. in Counseling with a specialization in College Counseling and Student Development from Azusa Pacific University. Lauren is available to help students with resumes and cover letters, exploring majors online, utilizing the College Central Network job board, and mock interviews.
Career counselors are available to:

- interpret Career Assessments
- conduct class presentations and orientation
- build or update resumes
- do mock interviewing
- help student identify relevant internship or volunteer opportunities
- assist with other job preparation needs
