Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Services provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting to the campus community.
If you need deaf and hard-of-hearing assistance, DSPS is here to support you.
ASL Interpreter Services
Interpreters sit in front of the class, usually in an area near the instructor. The interpreter signs and mouths what s/he hears and voices what is signed. Interpreters are available for deaf and hard-of-hearing students taking mainstream classes. Students can also request interpreter services for:
- Appointments on campus
- Meetings with instructors or tutors
- Labs
- Presentations
- Special events on campus
- Other educational activities
Real-Time Captioning
Students who use real-time captioning services will have captioners provide live-in classroom communication via a stenograph, laptop, or another electronic device. Audible classroom communication will appear in real time on a monitor for the student to read.
